BIG THANK YOU to our customers that helped us raise and donate $6,769.30 through the Entercom Salvation Army Feed CT food drive. All these dollars were used right here in CT. The Salvation Army has a far reaching hand beyond the food line. Special Thanks to the Entercom Radio crew. We'll get through this!
On December 6th, 2019 the Hartford, CT chapter of NAPA’s B.D.G. (Business Development Group) awarded United States Marine Corps veteran Anthony Strong of Portland, CT with a 2019 Ariens Platinum 24” SHO electronically fuel injected snow blower. In an ongoing effort to support our nation’s heroes, the group purchased the unit with the unanimous decision to give it to a Veteran. In observance of the Veteran’s Day holiday, all participating shops hosted a free raffle throughout the month of November in which any Veteran with a Military ID could fill out a voucher for a chance to win. The vouchers were collected at the last of the month and Mr. Strong’s name was drawn out of a pool of almost 100 participants. It is with great pride that the group was able to give back to someone who has done such great things for our country.
Anthony Strong’s honorary military career included 4 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Vinal Tech in Middletown in 2008 and enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after. He graduated from Parris Island Marine Corps boot camp in Beaufort, South Carolina. Following that Anthony completed School of Infantry at Camp Geiger in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina with 1st Battalion 9th Marines as a machine gunner. His first deployment was on the 24th MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) in aid to Haiti after the devastating earthquake of 2010. He was then deployed to Afghanistan and after his second deployment there in 2011, Anthony was honorably discharged in 2012. Anthony lives in Portland with his wife, two children, and has a baby on the way. The continual dedication and service of individuals like Mr. Strong should inspire all of us. Thank you for your service!
